I specialize in training/consultation in work with youth and their families and will be integrating PCOMS and CDOI into these trainings. Additionally, I am hoping to become a Certified Trainer for the Heart and Soul of Change Project so that I can help to disseminate this wonderful system into my community in the greater S.F. Bay Area. The week that I spent with Barry and my colleagues from different parts of the U.S. and other countries was pretty outstanding. In fact, I liked it so much that I am hoping Barry will add a TOT “advanced” for those of us who have already taken it and want to come back for further learning and refreshing. Obviously, I highly recommend this training both for the content and the instructor. Barry’s approachability and kindness is such a wonderful strength. Pamela Parkinson
TOT atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. Barry is an engaging presenter with a subtle sense of humor throughout and embedded in the Power Point slides. A week’s worth of training went by very quickly and it did not hurt any to be in West Palm Beach! PCOMS is well-researched and very usable in practice. Barry does a great job explaining the nuances of use and direction for training in a variety of settings. In a behavioral health environment that values outcomes measurement, PCOMS is a great set of tools to both enhance treatment and meet the expectations of third party payers and program evaluators. I would highly recommend TOT to anyone wanting to improve their skills and client outcomes in their practice/ agency. Mark S. DeBord
The TOT was a great opportunity for staff from my organization to become thoroughly acquainted with CDOI. The readings were invaluable and the presentations and discussion touched on the information most important for implementation. The week also provided a good opportunity for the team from our organization to plan for the roll-out of CDOI once we returned home. David E. Hanna
The training was very useful not only in the immersion in the material with Barry but also hearing the experience of how PCOMS is being used in a variety of venues in the US and elsewhere in the world. It has increased my knowledge and confidence in supervising and training others and has prompted me to make some changes in how I will expand this from a small group of current users to our entire agency. For me personally I have found Barry Duncan’s work and clear articulation of the philosophy behind his work to be refreshing to my therapeutic work. It has help spell out and to validate what my gut has told me for a long time about what is truly effective in therapy. I believe in the philosophy and use of CDOI but as a clinical supervisor/administrator, it is a challenge to help others share the philosophy and vision as strongly as I do. The TOT training was essential in equipping me to face that challenge with others. Barry goes out of his way to structure the TOT so that it is “privileging the voice of the participants” and addresses the needs of those attending. I left the TOT with a sense of confidence in how to inspire, train, and incorporate CDOI into our agency. Ritchie Sheridan
